The brand founded by Toshiko and Kiro Hirata (father and son) in 1996 in Kurashiki (City of Japan in Okayama Prefecture), the denim capital of Japan with its Kojima Jeans Street, combines an enormous knowledge of vintage American manufacturing, Kiro’s artistic nature and the unparalleled combination of knowledge learned in the production of the highest quality garments. For the SS20 collection, the Japanese brand has created two incredibly quilted and embroidered souvenir jackets, the Velveteen J-WAVE Souvenir Jacket.
The Souvenir Jacket or Sukajan, are jackets dating back to World War II, inspired by the varsity jackets of American colleges, embellished with embroidery in classic Japanese style representing tigers, dragons or snakes.

KAPITAL’s Velveteen J-WAVE Suovenir Jackets feature classic fit boxy, flat collars and raglan sleeves. The design is characterized by two different parts: diamond quilting in nylon on the front and delicate embroidered velvet on the back.

The embroideries depict an approximate map of Japan, showing the best places in the country to surf, which the G.I. (an acronym used to describe the soldiers of the United States Army and the airmen of the American Air Force), loved to do when they were stationed in the Japanese country.
The word “Surf” is embroidered in italics at the top of the back of the jacket, while the word “Japan” is engraved upside down at the bottom, all embellished with beautiful gold floral embroidery on the sleeves.
