Contemporary Polish artist Karolina Halatek explores the infinite potential of light to create large site-specific installations that combine visual, architectural and sculptural elements.
Her most recent work, Halo, was created for an artist’s residency in Chengdu and is characterized by the arrangement of a luminous ring that emanates
“The essence of the work comes from the imaginary super-natural sensation of clarity, light and extended space. By interacting with it you have the opportunity to discover a new dimension of your presence in a contemplative, pure and abstract environment”.
Also in Terminal, work of 2016, we find a tubular light installation erected in the Town Hall Square of Gerlingen, in southern Germany. The artwork was inspired by the experience of coma and death, which echoes in the title chosen by Karolina.
Both works focus on “the human light and the inner light that each of us has”.
