Katherine Lam is an American illustrator with a unique history and career that is reflected in the style of her work. 

If the love of visual art has always been part of Katherine’s life, the same cannot be said for editorial illustration. In fact, for a long time, Katherine Lam studied with the goal of becoming an artist for large animation studios such as Pixar or Disney; only later she realized that that path was not for her and started to focus on what she was really passionate about, the illustration of environments.

This inclination to draw interiors and exteriors of buildings, rooms, offices, studios, turned into her work when, attending the Illustration Academy in Kansas City, she approached editorial illustration for the first time. 

In this way, her work that could tell real stories began to attract the attention of newspapers and magazines. 

Today, Katherine Lam lives and works in New York and has collaborations with The New York Times, Telegraph, NBC, Hollywood Reporter and many others. 

The style adopted by Katherine Lam plays with shadows, which are emphasized even where they shouldn’t be, and with different textures that give a glimpse of the different brushstrokes. The final result takes us back in time, presenting illustrations that taste of the 80s, but also billboards from the 60s and artists like Hopper or Wyeth.
