The Glass House of Körei Sándor

In Körei Sándor’s work, the installation It Will Never Snow Again appears as a glass structure that echoes the archetypal shape of a house, yet immediately empties it of any domestic or narrative function. Inside, the space is divided into cells of identical size, each of which holds a fallen branch, collected and kept separate from the others.

The work’s central gesture is one of preservation—understood not as an attempt to repair or return to an original state, but as an act of conceptual reordering. The branches are neither reassembled nor transformed into something new; they remain what they are, but they are archived. The structure operates as a cataloguing device, holding natural elements in a suspended condition, where the life cycle they belonged to has clearly ended, yet remains legible through the traces they carry.

In this sense, It Will Never Snow Again does not stage loss in a spectacular or nostalgic way. Instead, it works through a quiet, almost administrative transformation, in which human intervention feels belated and ambiguous: it does not save, it does not destroy, but organizes what remains. The glass heightens this ambivalence, making everything visible and yet untouchable, as if looking were the only form of relationship still possible.

Körei Sándor

The installation does not try to imagine the future, nor to reconstruct an idealized past. It inhabits a present in which disappearance is no longer an exceptional event, but a baseline condition of contemporary thought. In this “frozen” present, Körei Sándor opens up a minimal yet radical interpretive space, where each element becomes a witness to a closed cycle and, precisely for that reason, charged with new possibilities.
