Lacoste FW 21 collection designed by Louise Trotter

Photographed by Sam Rock against the backdrop of imposing architectural icons-a mixture of grids and curves, concrete, brick, tile and glass-of the Front de Seine in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, Lacoste‘s Fall/Winter 2021 collection designed by Louise Trotter responds to the contemporary with elegance, humor and practicality.

Thanks to a bright palette accompanied by some understated neutral colors, the collection tricks the eye with exaggerated and shrunken proportions and unexpected constructions.
The French fashion house’s iconic crocodile is exaggeratedly enlarged, with archival patches in the shape of crocodile claws and heads to create a new iconography, alongside flaming tennis balls, a checked pattern reminiscent of tennis netting and an L-shaped varsity logo.
The jumpsuit and twinset concept is subverted in a variety of ways for men and women, with shirts, cardigans and joggers all cut from trompe l’oeil-effect pique cotton, the base material of Lacoste polo shirts.
The tailoring reflects the tradition of the founder of the maison René Lacoste: peacoats, varsity jackets, outerwear and trench coats reinterpreted with knitted collars, heat sealing and nylon padding.

With an evolution of the design process based on recycled materials from recent seasons, lightweight suits, down jackets and padded jackets are reconstructed with a patchwork of vintage Lacoste fabrics and remnants creating new geometries.

Neoprene short tops and sculpted shorts, unisex chinos with elasticated Velcro flaps, polychrome neoprene leggings and zipper with knitted patches above the ankle recall the running aesthetic. Contoured slippers with embossed patterns, 5 panel cotton pique and oversized backpacks complete the dynamic nature of the collection.
