After a long period of closure, the UK is slowly starting to open up businesses and social venues. In exactly one week’s time, the country’s plan is for customers to enter the premises.
To mark this important moment and celebrate the reopening of the pubs, the famous beer brand Guinness and the advertising agency AMV BBDO have launched a new advertising campaign entitled “Welcome Back“.
“Good Things Come To Those Who Wait”
To the tune of Jack Savoretti’s Always On My Mind, the ad features dozens of everyday scenes around the city strikingly similar to pints of the iconic stout. Black-and-white objects – such as snow on top of rubbish cans, socks hanging to dry on laundry lines, a group of seagulls above a fireplace and more – evoke the look of the classic dark beer with white foam and confirm that when things start to feel really missing, it only takes a moment to see them everywhere.

“Welcome Back” concludes with an announcement informing the viewer of the brand’s commitment to supporting UK businesses. In just over a year, through its Raising The Bar programme, Guinness has donated £30 million and over 30,000 PPE kits to 25,000 pubs across the country, helping the industry’s business recover from the pandemic.
