Who knows what would happen if the greatest artists in history had, in a parallel universe, a time machine that would allow them to travel to the present day, to see how their ideas have influenced artists and how masterpieces of art are exhibited and reinterpreted. With this concept was born Genius, the immersive exhibition dedicated to the greatest of all arts: Leonardo Da Vinci.
How would the author of the Mona Lisa live in 2022? How would he react to seeing a space of over 2000 square meters in which hundreds of people can interact with his works projected at 360 degrees on large surfaces? He might struggle to understand some of the conceptual links with today’s issues such as social equality, tolerance and environmental protection, but he might be surprised and delighted to see the way his works have traveled to Berlin and then throughout Europe and America.

The artistic director of Genius Leigh Sachwitz described the exhibition as a real immersive experience, in which interacting with the works to change their shape and consequently the atmosphere that all the other participants can live, surrounded by screens and animations. The exhibition has the task of collecting in a single container a very large artistic production and technical projects. The challenge was precisely that of telling different techniques in a single show, in a single engaging piece of art that tells the story of Leonardo Da Vinci as painter, inventor, scientist, environmentalist and astronomer.
One thing Leonardo probably never would have imagined is the opportunity given to visitors to chat with Mona Lisa, about fashion and gender equality. Genius is a work created by a team of over 20 designers, a great synthesis between Renaissance art and the new frontiers of digital art.
