The Salone del Mobile is celebrating its 60th edition this year whose main theme is sustainability.
The focus on a more responsible attitude toward the planet that hosts us is a fundamental concept not only for the world of fashion but also for the world of design.
“Weave, Restore, Renew” is the title of LOEWE’s project for this Salone del Mobile and celebrates “the regenerative power of manual labor,” as the Spanish fashion house’s Creative Director Jonathan Anderson, was quick to point out, and craftsmanship across time and different cultures.
“Throughout the project, we celebrate the regenerative power of manual labor. I am proud to have created a series of objects that reconnect the relationship with time, wear and tear, conveying a message of evolution and transformation that is progressive and uplifting”, Anderson said.
A journey into what are the ancient techniques of weaving, giving new life to surplus objects and materials; a showcase to emphasize the fact that repairs are at the heart of the concept of sustainability while giving the product a peculiar uniqueness, is what “sits right at the intersection of respect for the environment and respect for the product”, LOEWE’s creative director added.
“Weave, Restore, Renew”, the project dedicated to craftsmanship and ancient weaving techniques by LOEWE for the Salone del Mobile will be on view until June 12 at Palazzo Isimbardi, Corso Monforte, 35.
