His name is Jos, but for his digital works, he is known as @lookattheparkinglot and is a voice out of the chorus. Jos did not study art, graphic design or drawing, but works in Buenos Aires as a musical composer for the cinema.

This profession has brought him closer to the world of plastic construction and digital art. That’s how his passion for graphic design and the corruption of digital images was born.

In this way, Jos is able to express his world to the full, indeed he is able to build a whole new one. His works are characterized by soft colors, pastel and the presence of a few elements, @lookattheparkinglot just need a door, a landscape or a person to give shape to an imaginary far from our daily lives, a better imaginary.

Below you will find a selection of his works, to find out more go to his Instagram profile.

Big Bit, the house where you can live in a rainbow

Big Bit, the house where you can live in a rainbow

Giulia Guido · 5 months ago · Design

Half an hour’s drive from Canterbury, overlooking the sea, lies the small and characteristic village of Margate. With its typical old town, the clubs, the art galleries, and the beach, it is a perfect summer destination for those seeking peace and quiet, but not in a place lost in nowhere. Right in the center of Margate, Polly Donger and Jim Biddulph, the two owners of Little Bit stationery, have opened Big Bit

Big Bit is a year-round rental that offers visitors a more unique than rare stay. Its style and design have made it not only a suitable place for overnight stays but also a tourist destination.

The house is designed for a family of four, with two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a living room. The particularity is that the interior has been furnished and painted with the colors of the rainbow, turning Big Bit into a giant playground. One bedroom was designed as if it were a cloud, completely white and covered with softly padded fabrics, while the second has blue walls and a multicolored ceiling.

The kitchen, on the other hand, has been completely painted black with white polka dots. Don’t underestimate the bathroom, for which a bright yellow shade was chosen to cover everything, even the toilet paper.

Discover the peculiarity of Big Bit in our gallery and if you want to book a weekend go to the site.

Studio Combo, the ecofriendly hotel made from two abandoned houses

Studio Combo, the ecofriendly hotel made from two abandoned houses

Collater.al Contributors · 5 months ago · Design

Studio Combo has designed a project with a very low environmental impact, starting from two abandoned houses in a state of complete ruin. The former houses are located in Setubal, Portugal, on a stretch of wild coastline characterized by bursting rock faces, grassy plains and native flowers, at Cabo Espichel.

Studio Combo, the eco-friendly hotel with two abandoned houses | Collater.al

The Parisian studio therefore decided to renovate and rehabilitate them, acting on abandoned buildings, using local materials and using new technologies to create an eco-hotel nearing completion.

In the larger house there are several bedrooms, an office, a kitchen, bathrooms and a living room. The smaller house has two bedrooms and a bathroom.
The buildings are completely energy self-sufficient, even with the help of solar panels. Heating and cooling are under the control of a heat exchanger and all grey water is used for agricultural purposes. It was also a considered choice to leave the surrounding land as it was so that all the flowers that grow spontaneously in the surroundings could be used in a decorative way.

All that remains is to wait to see this paradise.

Marta Saraiva’s sarcastic artworks

Marta Saraiva’s sarcastic artworks

Giulia Pacciardi · 5 months ago · Design

The main weapons of Marta Saraiva’s artwork, also known as @annehail, are irony and topicality contents.

The graphics of the young Portuguese artist, graduated in Communication Design, are characterized by a pop style with bright colors and a mix of everyday objects and quotes full of sarcasm.

The themes at the heart of her work revolve around men and their psyche, with irreverence she makes fun of normality, of the consumer habits that govern our daily lives, of the fixed points, of the habits and customs but also of precise errors on which it would be better not to fly over.

Simple and striking graphics that, at first glance, pull a smile but also something more.

HiBed is the smart Bed 2.0 by Hi-Interiors

HiBed is the smart Bed 2.0 by Hi-Interiors

Collater.al Contributors · 5 months ago · Design

Hi-Interiors recently announced the second edition of its HiBed smart bed. So if you’re lazy you’ll have an extra excuse not to go out on the weekend and enjoy all the comforts and technology that makes this special bed available to you. Unlike its predecessor HiCan, released in 2018, it has a more minimal structure. The design was designed by Italian architect Fabio Vinella.

Going into more detail, the bed has a number of features to envy anyone. The elegant and enveloping structure offers all kinds of options, such as a 4K projector that can be combined with a series of devices to watch movies on a 70-inch screen. The speakers are inserted directly into the bed frame to give a ‘multiplex experience to all effects, but can also be used to listen to music.

HiBed also has its own lighting system to enjoy a good book or ground guide for the night. In addition to the elements for enjoyment, this bed is connected to an app and offers individual statistics for monitoring sleep and health, monitors temperature, air quality and body weight. In the morning, an intelligent audio alarm wakes the user up reciting the weather and news.

Hi-Interiors is a start-up, international in spirit but all Italian in heart, founded by two young entrepreneurs: Ivan and Gianni Tallarico. The idea behind Hi-Interiors is to bring to the world of design the disruptive force of the so-called “Internet of Things”, or interactive objects of the new generation that dialogue with the Internet. The Internet of Furniture is born.

HiBed is currently available for pre-order on the Hi-Interior website.
