Lula Goce’s expressive and innovative street art

Claudia Fuggetti

Lula Goce is a street artist born in Galicia, Spain. At the age of twenty years old she moved to Salamanca, where she graduated in fine arts specializing in painting. The artist approached street art during her period of study, seeing in it an art form that breaks the link with the environments of the galleries and allows the public a direct, immediate and effective contact.

Lula has also been part of art collectives based in Barcelona, a city that has extremely influenced her way of creating. Her style is characterized by bright colors and a strong expressiveness that can be found in her mural production of portraits.

The basis of the street artist’s artistic practice is the direct interaction with the viewer, which has the ultimate goal of revelation, which takes place as a sort of epiphany. Another interesting aspect is the form of dialogue that takes place between passers-by and residents as the work takes shape: the murals identify the spaces through a precise visual code. The fact that these pieces become an integral part of the areas in which they were created pushes Lula towards new artistic heights.
