Margherita Caspani signs UNIQLO’s new wall in Milan

Not everyone has the ability and eye to capture the features of a place and the people who inhabit it. Margherita Caspani not only has this gift, but she also has the artistic talent to turn what she sees into an illustration capable of speaking to everyone.
This is certainly why, when the Italian team of UNIQLO had to choose an artist to entrust with the remake of the large wall of the Milan store, they had no doubts, the choice immediately fell on Margherita.

Graduated in illustration and animation, awarded twice with the World Illustration Awards and twice with the Awards of Excellence by Communication Arts California, and recipient of the gold medal from the Society of Illustrators of New York, featured in national and international newspapers and magazines, Margherita Caspani had the challenging task of interpreting, with her own style, the concept of LifeWear, which has always been at the heart of the Japanese company’s philosophy.

UNIQLO’s LifeWear is the art of expressing yourself through what you choose to wear every day,” said the illustrator, who decided to populate the wall that guides customers from the ground floor to the upper level with characters who have a clear sense of their own style — and are proud of it.

From the lady with the dalmatian dressed in a polka-dot pattern, to the character with a wolf’s face holding a giant pencil, all the way to the child hiding under a flower, everyone can recognize themselves in this artwork.

Of course, the connection with the city is not missing, so you can spot the Torre Velasca, the sign marking the metro stops, and an unavoidable pigeon wearing a shoulder bag that cannot help but remind us of the iconic UNIQLO bag — one that surely each of us owns in at least one version.

Every time a UNIQLO store opens, it quickly becomes a reference point for many citizens, and for the holiday season the brand decided to thank its many customers with a special gesture that highlights the important bond between the brand and the world of art.
Starting Thursday, December 4, for every purchase made in one of the UNIQLO stores in Italy, customers will receive an illustrated postcard by Margherita Caspani as a holiday greeting.

If you haven’t seen it yet, all you have to do is stop by Piazza Cordusio and admire Margherita Caspani’s artwork with your own eyes.
