In the heart of Florence, the historic Manifattura Tabacchi is being transformed into a modern contemporary district, hosting a solo exhibition by Massimo Listri, a renowned architectural and interior photographer. The exhibition, titled Massimo Listri. Photographs, will be open until November 14, 2024, offering a unique glimpse into spaces reinterpreted by the Florentine artist. The exhibition is set in the building that once housed the factory’s workshop, which has now been temporarily repurposed into a space dedicated to art.

Massimo Listri: A Journey Through Spaces

Born in Florence in 1953, Listri began his photographic career at a very young age, publishing in some of the most prestigious design magazines. Throughout his professional life, he has exhibited his works in world-renowned institutions, including the Royal Palace of Milan, the Uffizi Galleries in Florence, the Museum of Modern Art in Buenos Aires, and the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. Listri is known for his ability to convey the essence of architectural spaces in images that capture both the historical beauty and the grandeur of the locations.

In this exhibition at Manifattura Tabacchi, Listri presents a visual journey through 19 large-format works, including two shots of the interior of the same Manifattura, photographed in 2019 before its renovation. These industrial spaces, immortalized with Listri’s unique mastery, are showcased alongside iconic locations like the Palace of Versailles, the Vatican Apostolic Library, and the Royal Palace of Naples. Thanks to his expert use of light and perspective, the images evoke an aura of silence and sacredness, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in their inherent beauty.

Art as Part of the Urban Regeneration Plan

Listri’s exhibition is not just a tribute to his extraordinary career, but also an important step in the urban regeneration plan of Manifattura Tabacchi. This project aims to revitalize the historic structure by blending it with new and avant-garde art. The displayed works become an integral part of a broader cultural rebirth, enriching Florence’s urban fabric with an artistic proposal that combines history, art, and innovation.

Massimo Listri’s solo exhibition, with its ability to bring new life to spaces through photography, thus becomes a symbol of Florence’s transformation, a city that continues to reinvent itself while maintaining a strong connection to its glorious past.
