There are designers who solve problems and others who, instead, imagine the future. The work of Maya Prokhorova moves between these two visions, where functionality meets speculation and the object becomes a concrete vision of the future. Many of the objects she presents on her Instagram profile are nothing more than prototypes that serve as inspiration for an idea of a future we have not yet reached. But let’s find out more about her approach to the world of design.

Founder of the creative studio Mayaprodesign, Maya Prokhorova developed an artistic sensitivity from a very young age that now defines her design approach. Music, through her study of the violin, and her education at an art school laid the foundations for a multidisciplinary creative language capable of moving across aesthetics, ergonomics, and technological innovation. A journey that led her to earn a Master’s degree in Industrial Design, consolidating a rigorous design method that remains open to experimentation.

Her projects stand out for their strong conceptual component: objects that seem to come from the near future, yet always maintain a concrete and usable dimension. The forms are often clean and essential, while the materials and design solutions reveal an ongoing exploration of sustainability, technology, and new modes of interaction. It is precisely this ability to balance vision and functionality that has earned her international recognition and participation in numerous design weeks around the world.
In the case of SYNESTHESIA – Modular Wall Station, we are faced with a modular sensory interface designed to integrate into interior spaces as an active architectural element. Made up of a magnetic metal structure and interchangeable modules, it transforms the wall into an adaptive technological landscape. The currently available modules — sound, light, and fragrance diffusion — make it possible to create customized combinations that engage multiple senses at once. Rather than concealing technology, the project makes it visible and an integral part of the environment, turning it into an emotional and dynamic presence within the space.

Alongside her more experimental work, Maya Prokhorova collaborates with brands and companies from different sectors, developing packaging, visual identities, and product design projects capable of translating values and storytelling into tangible objects. From food & beverage to technology, every project stems from a process of listening and research, with the aim of creating solutions that are at once recognizable and innovative.

The work of Mayaprodesign does not stop at creating products, but builds scenarios. Each project is an exercise in applied imagination, where aesthetics and functionality coexist in balance. In a landscape where design is increasingly called upon to respond to new social and technological needs, Maya Prokhorova’s vision stands out for its ability to anticipate trends without losing sight of users’ everyday experience.

With a gaze constantly turned toward the future, Maya Prokhorova continues to redefine the boundaries of contemporary design, transforming visionary ideas into concrete objects and demonstrating how design can be not only a solution, but also an act of imagination.
