Some images of Kylian Mbappé have caught the attention of football fans, especially sneaker enthusiasts. The PSG footballer has sported a unique version of Nike Mercurial, inspired by the iconic Air Max Plus. What do these images tell us, and what lies behind these football boots? Nike has undoubtedly employed a winning tactic by having Mbappé wear them to announce the launch of the Air Mercurial Tn on the market, especially as Mbappé is recently in the spotlight due to the approaching expiry of his contract with PSG.

Mbappé’s footwear is a true hybrid, halfway between the Air Zoom Mercurial Superfly IX and the Air Max Plus, enriched with ‘Voltage Purple,’ a color reminiscent of the legendary 1998 drop. This combination immediately catches the eye and, on one hand, celebrates the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Air Max Plus, preceded by collaborations with Patta and FC Barcelona.

The perfect blend of a sporty silhouette and a wavy, immediately recognizable aesthetic, thanks in part to the Zm logo, a clear nod to the classic Tn. The Swoosh, in ‘Total Orange,’ is equally noteworthy. According to some, the shoe should hit the market this spring, while others suggest its arrival in online stores and physical shops seems more imminent, all priced at $310. According to @kicksdong – the IG profile that leaked some photos – it appears that other shoes inspired by Nike Air Force 1 are also on the way. We just have to keep an eye on what will happen on the football fields.
