To celebrate Microsoft and its 50th anniversary, Studio Koto collaborated with the company’s team to tell the story of five decades of innovation — from the early days of personal computing to the era of artificial intelligence with Copilot.

At the heart of the campaign is a clear and powerful strategy: «Change needs makers». This message comes to life through a visual and conceptual narrative that weaves together nostalgia for the past with optimism for the future, putting the spotlight on the people who made it all possible: dreamers, engineers, pioneers, visionaries.

Microsoft didn’t want to create the usual corporate celebration focused on products. On the contrary, it chose to highlight what truly made a difference: the people. The campaign is a tribute to the human power behind technology — to those who built, innovated, and pushed the boundaries of what’s possible. The stories speak of groundbreaking products, historic insights, and the ingenuity that fueled every step forward.

The visual strength of the campaign is expressed through a bold and dynamic design system. Past and present blend into immersive worlds populated by iconic 3D artifacts — from Windows to Xbox, from Clippy to Copilot — elements that tell the story of the brand’s and technology’s evolution.

The main symbol is the 50th anniversary logo, a playful nod to the original Windows logo, Microsoft’s first widely recognized emblem. Six backgrounds inspired by the company’s legacy bring depth and optimism to the campaign, while the Segoe Sans Display typeface helps convey messages with clarity and elegance.

The art direction celebrates the real faces of Microsoft: employees, customers, innovators. They are the true protagonists of this 50-year journey. As Studio Koto highlights on its website, this campaign is also an open invitation to the future — a call for the next generation of makers to keep building what’s yet to come.

With this campaign, Microsoft shows that true innovation comes from people — and that, even after half a century, the future is still waiting to be invented.
