Japanese streetwear brand NEIGHBORHOOD has unveiled its third collaboration with photographer Osamu Nagahama.
A capsule collection that is part of Spring/Summer 2022 consisting of a series of photo tees embellished with the Japanese photographer’s shots, chosen directly by NEIGHBORHOOD founder Shinsuke Takizawa.
Street and American landscape images made in the late 1970s and 1990s that tell us about the deep, warm and intimate style of Nagahama’s work.
Among the Japanese photographer’s most interesting projects is certainly “Cotton Fields”, a collection of photographs taken during a five-year-long trip to the southern United States, where he met with more than 70 blues musicians, capturing their faces and lives in more than 42,000 shots to try to recount the places and context where the blues was born.
In this capsule tees, available in white and gray, the photos depict glimpses of some cities in Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Mississippi, Missouri, and Louisiana taken in black and white where we find vintage images of buildings, cars, and billboards.
Enriching the graphics on the tees we also find handwritten lettering by Takizawa himself describing the photos from a temporal and geographical perspective.
The Osamu Nagahama x NEIGHBORHOOD capsule collection will be available online at the Japanese brand’s website starting Saturday, May 28.
