Is come directly from the future the New Balance XC-72, inspired by the artistic and literary current of retro-futurism but born from the nostalgic feeling for the ’70s, decade in which this creative trend was born.
The XC-72 joins the models 327 and 237 already within the Shifted collection, for a unisex model in which the color palette is designed carefully, as well as the variety of textures of the upper and especially the sole. In the sole there is the reinterpretation of the retro-runner sneakers of New Balance, as well as in the toe, inspired by the square cars of the 70s that seem to be designed by the same architects and artists who imagined impossible cities and spaceships.
The future, especially when seen from the past, is also a vision of what will be the solutions to environmental problems of the present. For this reason, the concept is combined with a search for sustainable materials, such as suede and leather.
This new sneaker will be released on September 4th and enriches the meaning and weight of the Shifted collection. Perhaps the retro-future of the American brand is just that, reinventing starting from its history, and then reinventing again, in another 40 years.
