Since the 1987 release of the Air Max 1 – the first silhouette to have a visible Air Max system – designed by Mark Parker and Tinker Hatfield, Nike has been constantly working on the evolution of this technology. This progressive ethos has led the Beaverton-based company to adapt each model to the new directions and fashions of the moment.

This very vision lies at the heart of Air Max’s new Spring 2021 collection, which features three new silhouettes: the Air Max 2090 EOI, the Air Max Viva and the Air VaporMax EVO.

The Air Max 2090 EOI (“Evolution of Icons”) is an homage to the Air Max of the past and combines elements of the Air Max 90 and Air Max BW. A sort of introduction for the other EOI silhouettes planned for the season including the Air Max 270 React, the Air Max Zephir, the Air Max 90, the Air Max 95, the Air Max Plus and many more yet to be announced.

The Air Vapormax EVO on the other hand mixes elements of different sneakers and commemorates some of the most important Air Max in history such as the Air Max 90, Air Mac 93 and Air Max Plus. Each pair will be sold along with a booklet that tells about the models that inspired the colorway that mixes black, white and gray and a brief history of the evolution of the Air Max logos.

The Air Max Viva combines a Cushlon intersole and an extra-large Air Max unit at the heel with a nubuck, leather and mesh upper. The two laces follow the double aesthetic already seen in collaborations with sacai.

As of now, there is no release date but it is likely that the Spring 2021 Nike Air Max collection will be released in the coming months.
