Nike and Nigo, a multifaceted figure in Japanese (and contemporary) street style as well as the Creative Director of Kenzo, have joined forces for the first time with the exclusive launch of a Nike Air Force III and a clothing collection. This collaboration marks the beginning of a partnership that we hope will last, celebrating Nigo’s impact on the fashion world. Among the many inspirations drawn from Nigo’s imagination, let’s dive into the details of this capsule collection.

Nike x Nigo: The Collaboration
At the heart of the project seems to be a reimagining of the iconic Air Force III. Nigo has transformed its robust silhouette, paying homage to the world of cinema and television. The shoe features a leather and fabric upper, with graphic details on the tongue and heel that reflect the cultural influences that characterize Nigo’s style and the original sneaker. Each package is personalized and includes an exclusive patch and pin.

«Nike has many masterpieces, and the Air Force III is one of them. Through this collaboration, I want to help everyone rediscover the beauty of this model,» explains Nigo, speaking about the collection available from September 28 exclusively in Tokyo, on humanmade.jp, and at the “I Know Nigo 2” pop-up in New York, with a global launch scheduled for October 4 on SNKRS and in selected stores.

«The accompanying clothing collection includes a college-style jacket reinterpreted through the colorful lens of one of Nigo’s favorite Japanese cartoons, as well as classic t-shirts that can be paired with any look,» reads the press release that accompanies the launch. From what we can tell, based only on visuals, the inspiration seems to come from Voltron (perhaps with a few nods to Power Rangers), but we’ll wait to see the pieces to get a clearer idea.

One last detail: in some selected markets, like China and Japan, there will be a variant called Nike x OGIN, a play on Nigo’s name written backward. Despite the name, both collections maintain Nigo’s classic style. In short, we’ll definitely be talking about this collab in the future.
