If you ever find yourself walking through the streets of Malaga and you come across the fast-food Pastrami, the advice is to enter.
Located in the heart of the city, at first glance it looks like a simple restaurant where burgers and chips are constantly baked, but if you pay attention or just go to the bathroom you will find that it is actually much more.
The project behind this fast food restaurant is that, in the men’s toilets, there is a door through which you enter a club of the ’20s. You may be wondering how it’s possible or what a strange idea it might be, but in reality, it all has a name and a real concept behind it: it’s called speakeasy.
For those of you who have no idea what it is, it is a place that blends with other totally different activities that can be small markets, bars, etc.. In short, environments so harmless that at first glance, as in Pastrami, you can not capture the existence of another activity.

The origin of speakeasy dates back to the period of American prohibition – between 1919 and 1933 – when the law that prohibited the sale and consumption of alcohol throughout the country came into force. For this reason, the Americans found a trick to consume this type of drink in masked, hidden places.

Back to us: behind the fast-food is the Discoteca Pastrami, designed by the design studio Paco Lago and furnished in perfect ’20s style with decorations, floors and bar counter entirely in marble, mirrors, neon lights and vinyl coverings. It feels like a bit of a party on Long Island for the Great Gatsby. The studio, perfectly respecting the retro reality of those years, wanted to arouse the curiosity of guests by inserting real goodies such as the upside-down entrance of the men’s bathroom, the lounge made more fascinating by a play of lights, up to the door of the VIP area that conveys the feeling of entering a place where you know you shouldn’t but you do, a sort of passage through hell with red lights and the words Hell’s Vip.
