During the lockdown, not only shops, businesses and schools had to suspend their activities, but museums also temporarily closed their doors. However, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, in collaboration with the City Zoo, decided to take the opportunity at the colo and allow very special visitors to enjoy the beauty of the paintings by Caravaggio, Monet and many others.

Thus, the doors of the Museum opened just enough to let in three penguins curious to take a journey through the history of art. While Bubbles, Maggie and Berkley trod the halls and corridors, the museum’s managing director, Julián Zugazagoitia, and the zoo’s executive director, Randy Wisthoff, tried to study the movements of the small animals. “They seemed to react much better to Caravaggio than to Monet,” Wisthoff commented.

After all, who are we to not allow animals to enjoy the beauty of art.
