Only 15 days to go before Pharrell Williams makes his debut as Louis Vuitton’s new Men’s Creative Director, in fact on the opening day of Paris Men’s Fashion Week (June 20-25) the Virgina Beach-born creative will present his first collection with the French fashion house.

In late 2022, so shortly before he received the news that he would replace his late friend Virgil Abloh at LV, Pharrell launched Joopiter, a plastic manifestation of his idea of a contemporary auction house.
The project began to take shape after watching the Netflix series Tidying Up With Marie Kondo, where famed tidiness guru Marie Kondo helps people eliminate clutter at home as a first step to taking care of themselves.

Having realized that he had so many unique items accumulated over so many years, and not wanting to simply sell them but at the same time tell a story, with Joopiter Pharrell would invite friends and artists to curate his auctions, then donate the proceeds to Black Ambition, a nonprofit organization that supports entrepreneurs and businesses from underrepresented backgrounds.

In confirmation of this commitment made, Pharrell recently announced a new auction organized thanks in part to the help of Sarah Andelman, his longtime friend, founder of one of the most famous retailers ever, Colette (now closed), and now head of the consulting and curating firm Just an Idea

If the first auctions had featured Pharrell’s personal items, this time the good Skateboard P has involved a series of artists, his close friends, who for the occasion have created the works that will precisely be auctioned.

“Just Phriends”, this is the name of the initiative that will kick off on June 19 and will involve the likes of Takashi Murakami, Kaws, Futura and brands such as Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co, all of whom are precisely friends and close collaborators of Pharrell Williams throughout his multifaceted career.

Among the works at the center of the auction will be: a Moonman from the MTV Video Music Awards by Kaws, a teddy bear-shaped jacket made just for Pharrell by Castelbajac, a sui generis dollhouse called “The Simple Things” by Murakami made of steel, fiberglass, wood and LEDs, and many, many more.

“Sarah and I have shared a long-standing friendship, fueled by a mutual love of discovery and a constant search for sources of inspiration. The selection of artists she has put together that we love and admire is a testament to that, and I am thrilled to show the world what we have been working on”, these are Pharrell’s words about the auction released to Vogue.

“Just Phriends”, will take off on June 19 and end on the 27th, for more info just sign up here.
