Philippe Echaroux is a brilliant Franch street artist, known for his intervention in the Amazonian rainforest, of which we had previously spoken here. His work in Central Park, A World First in New York, is an evocative and provocative action: as he himself states, underlining his ecological point of view. These are monumental projections of portraits, placed in the naturalistic context.
“Central Park is a perfect symbol of people trying to dominate the nature, here nature is contained in a rectangle, but who is surrounding who in the end?”
We can consider this work as a second chapter of the affirmation of an idea that is shaped and becomes art, an art that wants to enchant and at the same time wants to reflect on the fate of Nature. Halfway between street art and photography, it is difficult to classify his creations in a single artistic movement, but a relevant feature is the temporariness: the portraits were visible only for ten nights, but they were enough to leave their mark.
