The first Piercing trailer is out. Piercing is the new disturbing film by Nicolas Pesce (The eyes of my mother), based on Ryu Murakami’s novel, which stars will be a seductive Mia Wasikowska and a psychopath Christopher Abbot. The second feature by the young New York director is the story of Reed, a charming married businessman who is planning to murder of a prostitute interpreted by Wasikowska who appears to be more of a psychopath than the executioner himself. From the trailer, we shall see the murder preparations through a fragmented montage which shows glimpses of flirtation scenes, blood, legs, and screams on the background of a famous La Traviata aria. The film, official selection of Sundance, which will be presented during the Turin Film Festival week, promises an intricate tangle of psychological horror which will undoubtedly be noticed for its sheer originality, the cast or for the skillful director’s touch.
Piercing will debut in American theaters on December 1st. In Italy although we do not have a release date yet, it will hopefully soon be in distribution.
