Prada‘s Fall/Winter 2021-2022 men’s collection titled “Possible Feelings” was unveiled yesterday, the first designed by the Italian fashion house’s creative director duo, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons.

In the foreground we find a strong physicality, shape, volume and body, a sort of new page where the first words written by Miuccia and Simons talk about sustainability and individuality, but not in the negative sense of the term, but that of the individual that will be born again after this long period of suspension: “at the basis of everything there is the individual, with his body and his freedom”.

The physicality, this desire to touch and feel that has been taken away from us, denied and that we lack, expressed through fabrics such as jacquard, re-nylon, tweed bouclé, wool, velvet to finish with the leather, everything seems to be enveloping, comfortable, invites us to physical contact precisely. 

The show, strictly digital, took place at the maison’s Milan headquarters within a set built by Rem Koolhaas thanks to the work of the AMO studio: a succession of seemingly undefined environments through which a self-confident man moves and at the same time able to adapt to his surroundings, mutating and adapting. The environments are bordered by panels of marble, resin, plaster and “faux fur”. 
The music that accompanied the show is by Plastikman aka Richie Hawtin.

The silhouette lengthens and widens: a Long John covers the entire body, the base is made of jacquard knit on which the looks are built, modifying the appearance but leaving the body unaffected. Almost a game in which the body is hidden and revealed at the same time. Oversize but functional volumes, the body – which is at the center of everything – is autonomous, it manages the garments not just wears them.
Trendy minimalism conceived as a restart in a context of long-term planning, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons have established a relationship in which the work of one does not assert itself on the other in a constant and continuous collaboration based on comparison.

After the show, the two creative directors answered many questions posed by students around the world where Miuccia explained, among other things, why she chose to work with Simons: “I decided to work with him just to have the possibility of confrontation…if one of us really can’t stand something, we don’t do it”.

Prada’s Fall/Winter 2021-2022 men’s collection “Possible Feelings” is just that, a cohesive work in which the body/individual once again becomes free and no longer suffocated by a suspended reality.
