From October 12th to 15th, 2023, emerging contemporary art takes the spotlight in Milan with the fourth edition of ReA! Art Fair, the only Italian fair where emerging artists are the absolute protagonists, without the intermediation of galleries or museums. The event will take place in the captivating Ex Cisterne space of the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, promoted and organized by the non-profit association ReA Arte, with the sponsorship of the Municipality of Milan and Fondazione Cariplo.

A Showcase for New Talent
ReA! Art Fair is a unique opportunity to discover the work of 100 artists selected from over 800 applications from around the world. These emerging talents will have the opportunity to showcase their creations, spanning various forms of art and creative techniques, embracing the full spectrum of possibilities that contemporary art offers. The scientific committee, composed of curators Maria Myasnikova, Erica Massaccesi, Rita Meschiari, Paola Shiamtani, Milena Zanetti, and Vittoria Martinotti, played a crucial role in the artist selection process, ensuring a diverse range of works. A preview can be obtained by visiting ReA!’s Instagram account, which has been posting short video presentations of each artist who will be featured at the fair for the past few weeks.

Among the artists featured at the fair, the works of the talented Russian artists Lilia Li-Mi-Yan and Katherina Sadovsky stand out, inviting the audience to immerse themselves in a surreal world of bionic and colorful creatures through an evocative video. Their creations depict a future in which humanity interacts with enigmatic masses in a kind of artistic symbiosis. Another artist in attendance will be Yannis Ouaked, who, with his sculptures challenging human perception, takes the viewer on an exploratory journey through the intriguing forms of his works.
Multimedia Explorations
Contemporary art doesn’t limit itself to tradition, and ReA! Art Fair demonstrates this by showcasing several artists who primarily use digital media and technology. One example is the young artist Weiran Yao. As a new media artist, Yao embraces a wide range of mediums, from 3D animation to short films, from virtual reality to digital painting, to create multisensory environments that explore human identity in a world dominated by digital surveillance and biopolitics.

Side Events and Awards
The event offers much more than just the exhibition of artworks. ReA! Art Fair presents a rich program of talks and workshops on topics related to art and design, Artificial Intelligence, and ultra-contemporary collecting. These events involve significant figures in the Italian art scene, including the student association Bocconi Business & Arts, Giuseppe Iannaccone Collection, and 5Vie Design district.
The fair also offers significant awards to support emerging artists. Among these, the Cash Prize worth €1,500 will be awarded to the winner chosen by an external jury, with the contribution of the public who can vote for their favorite artist through Artsted, the digital platform that provides accessible investments in the art world.
Furthermore, 10 selected artists will participate in a group exhibition curated by ReA! in the spring or summer of 2024, while one artist will have the opportunity to participate in an Art Residency in Italy, in collaboration with VIAFARINI, a cultural association dedicated to the growth of emerging authors.
