Already since last week there were rumors of a possible collaboration between the Japanese brand sacai and ACRONYM by Errolson Hugh.
A few days ago came the officiality of this joint venture through a series of posts on Instagram by Hugh who shared the first looks, both men and women, of the collection.
“sacai ACRONYM collection launching January 2022”, was the caption chosen by the brand’s founder, who added,: “Riffing on a theme of bonding, both as a metaphor for unity and as a technique for joining together two materials — two ideas that have been at the heart of sacai since the beginning,” the Munich-based designer wrote. “The collection by founder and designer, Chitose Abe, is a study on sealing together two apparently disparate notions to make a new form, bringing together characteristics born of different, sometimes opposing, origins”.
This concept of union is perfectly evident in the pieces of the collection where the hyper technical details of ACRONYM are perfectly integrated in those that are the typical forms of sacai, this is the first time that ACRONYM engages in the realization of clothing.
“Having known Chitose, and of course sacai, for many years, this collaboration is the ideal kind of cross-pollination. And as I believe you can see from the results, it’s a true blend of the philosophies of both brands, where the sum is greater than the parts”, ha concluso il founder di ACRONYM.
The Sacai x ACRONYM collection will launch in January 2022.
