sacai Deconstructs and Reconstructs Levi’s DNA

When two opposing worlds meet, something new is born. The Levi’s x sacai capsule collection reinterprets the iconic silhouettes of American denim through the modular and experimental aesthetic of the Japanese maison led by Chitose Abe. Levi’s DNA—rich with historical details and pop culture references—is deconstructed and rebuilt by sacai into hybrid, architectural, and layered garments, transforming workwear into conceptual tailoring.

Three pieces define the womenswear offering. The Denim Jacket merges elements of Levi’s Type II, III, and I jackets, featuring a boxy silhouette, refined inner details, and a sculptural structure. Next is the Denim x Matelassé Twill Jacket, made from sacai’s patented fabric, which also reveals tailoring details on the inside. Completing the selection is the Jumpsuit, crafted from lightweight denim, with a bib-style top and wide legs: a fluid, elegant, and modern piece.

The menswear line maintains the hybrid spirit but with more essential shapes. The Denim Jacket is embellished with golden “sunspot” buttons, while the Reversible Blouson transforms from a tailored jacket into a Type II style, thanks to exclusive materials and clever details such as sleeve pockets and exposed selvedge.

The unisex pieces, like the Denim Pants, expand the capsule’s identity: wide, 7-pocket jeans with a reversible belt in denim and grosgrain, designed for a fluid and genderless style. The imagery of James Dean—freedom, innocence, curiosity—inspires the visual campaign and connects the collection’s aesthetic to that of sacai’s Spring/Summer 2025 Men’s and Women’s lines. It’s a tribute to constant transformation, where denim becomes a statement of style.
