When it was opened by friends John Parker and Christiaan Ashworth in 2005, END. was just a local store from Newcastle that didn’t know what the future had set aside for his environment.

The business picked up almost immediately when the co-founders set up the online store, a year after the first flagship store opened. Moreover, they opened a Glasgow store in 2016 and another in Soho, London in 2018.

In fact it eventually became one of the most renowned retailers worldwide, earning respect from any type of brand as well as growing a huge number of clients.

As Saucony, core silhouettes like the Shadow Original and Jazz secured their legendary status among runners and fashionistas in the 80s, the brand continued to develop different models in a quest for running footwear perfection.

In fact in 1989, four years following the release of the Shadow Original, Saucony dreamt up the Shadow 5000, a model that continued the late ‘80s vibe in style.

The updated version of the silhouette was composed of a shock-absorbent EVA midsole, redesigned to support the movement of the foot, additional panelling to the upper offering greater stability, and a clean and more compact TPU heel stabiliser.

In addition, the complexity of this silhouette gives the designers a huge range of options in colourways and panels to work on, which has clearly been capitalised on in the latest Saucony collaborations like this END. one.

This gourmet-hamburger inspired take on the Saucony Shadow 5000 was cleverly designed to mimic the essential ingredients and condiments of a burger, from the paddy itself, to onion, lettuce, tomato, and burger bun.

The upper is executed in perforated nubuck and suede with touches of leather, while END. as well as Saucony branding can be found on the tongue, insole, and heel.

At the end, the design is complemented by a gum brown outsole, white midsole, and interchangeable sealed ‘BBQ’ and ‘Mayo’ sachet-like lace holders.

In addition, all the pairs came in a custom checkered box inspired by traditional burger packaging, as well as a set of three different colored laces, conceived as an ode to the people’s favorite condiments.

The in-store release was celebrated with an official launch party at the brand’s original END. Hunting Co. store.
As attendees gathered to purchase the shoes, they were also treated to a round of tastefully crafted sliders and cups of ale.
