SINGULARITÉ is Badara Preira‘s photographic project, a collection of shots resulting from a journey into the heart of the Layenne fraternity in Senegal. The intention of the photographer, also a Senegalese, is to explore spiritual depth through the prism of the Layenne Muslim brotherhood, known for its distinctive approach to faith and its choice of white as a symbol of purity. Each photograph is an ode to difference and an invitation to self-acceptance in a society that sometimes views uniqueness with skepticism. Through intimate portraits and scenes of everyday life, Badara Preira asks a fundamental question: why fear diversity when it is a source of richness and authenticity?

Badara Preira’s artistic process is based on patient observation and a deep respect for the moment. Some shots required hours of waiting to capture the very essence of the moment. The skillful use of backlight and natural light emphasizes the contrast between the subject and the crowd, highlighting the individual in his or her beautiful isolation. Badara Preira wants the audience, immersed in SINGULARITÉ, to feel the power of the emotions conveyed by these moments of authentic life. These images are a mirror of our own singularities, an invitation to embrace our differences and unique stories, in a world where being oneself is the most beautiful of journeys.
