«Kids toys, adult issues». @shampoooty‘s bio perfectly sums up the concept behind these ingenious creations. Hilarious on the one hand, dramatic on the other. The aesthetics totally mirror that of children’s toys, but the content describes our lives, those of adults. From obsession with work to vices, perversions and addictions. Somehow Andy Sahlstrom, the artist behind this project, underlines the social habit of introducing children to the world of adults at an early age, imposing on them the desire to grow up and build a career of their own. Even more dramatic is the ever-shortening closeness between the world of children and the adult world, a distance that is becoming ever shorter, causing many difficulties for the adults of tomorrow. Children who are no longer able to be such but wish to resemble some famous character seen on TV or social media. With shampoooty, Sahlstom highlights the dramatic nature of this dynamic, now so difficult to handle for parents themselves who, on the other hand, are attracted by the brand’s growing pop aesthetic and irreverent language.
