Sampha Sisay has collaborated and has given voice to great artists such as SBTRKT, Jassie Ware, Drake, Kanye West, FKA Twigs and Solange. After the release of his latest album Process, the artist started his visual exploration experiment with a short film directed by Kahlin Joseph.
Now his new project is a 32-page zine called Shy Light, made for WeTrasfer Studios in collaboration with designer Grace Wales Bonner, artist Jamie Reid and the two photographers Jalan and Jibril Durimel. The project contains photos taken from the artist’s personal archive and other unpublished content such as some looks at Morden, London suburb where the artist grew up, and other images shot at Freetown in Sierra Leone, his home country.
The paper zine will be available from June but Wetrasfer has already provided a free preview.
