For Spring/Summer 2021, the multidisciplinary platform founded by Luca Benini in 1989 and the Boston-based company have created a limited edition version of the 991, New Balance’s cult sneaker that recently turned 20, along with a mini apparel collection consisting of a waterproof anorak and a pair of track pants.
Slam Jam x New Balance‘s 991 features a color scheme that mirrors that characteristic of the Ferrara area on a nylon ripstop pigskin leather upper and reflective piping around the N logo. The base features rough rubber detailing on the heel and toes along with a Bi-color sole.
Also features a grey reflective insole and three different pairs of laces, grey, black and red.
The apparel line embraces the ideology behind Slam Jam’s (Un)corporate Uniforms project: the waterproof anorak and track pants feature a relaxed fit, designed and manufactured with mobility in mind.
This collaboration is accompanied by a photo campaign created by New York-based photographer Katie Burnett and composed of signature analog shots that you can see below.
The Slam Jam x New Balance collaboration will be released in Slam Jam’s physical stores, online at slamjam.com and at the iconic New Balance shop in Shap (Cumbria, UK) near the Flimby factory on May 7.
It will be available at select retailers worldwide on May 13.
