Special Sneaker Club celebrates the 30th birthday of Diadora N9000

Andrea Tuzio

Special Sneaker Club has chosen to take part in the celebrations for the 30th birthday of one of the most popular models among collectors and sneaker enthusiasts, the Diadora N9000.

This celebration consists of a brand new collaboration consisting of a pack that includes two new colorways of the N9000 produced in Italy and dedicated to the neighborhood that has been the Club’s home for the past two years, Porta Ticinese: “Tri Scagn” and “Porta Ticinese“.

The “Tri Scagn” colorway recalls the three-legged stool that has been part of the Porta Ticinese coat of arms – as well as the Special Sneaker Club – since the 12th century. The Milanese culture traces it back to the religious tradition, but among the meneghini the stool is much more famous for having given its name to the famous tavern “Alle tre scranne” (Ai tri scàgn), which welcomed on the threshold of the ancient walls of Milan travelers from all over Italy along the road from Pavia. For centuries, the Porta Ticinese district was on the outskirts of the growing metropolis, an infamous place of perdition full of taverns and brothels.

The “Porta Ticinese” colorway, on the other hand, focuses on the new role that the district has taken on, as it has become the true point of reference for Street Culture enthusiasts, from Milan and beyond: a gateway to the world and the contaminations that make Milan a multicultural metropolis.

The places that best represent the essence and spirit of Porta Ticinese are the backdrop to the photos taken by Giuseppe Romano: Colonne di San Lorenzo, Via Molino delle Armi and Parco delle Basiliche, but also Specchio di Alice, one of the most famous thrift stores in Milan and Trattoria Madonnina, which in 2022 will be 300 years old, all spent on the Navigli.

White, red and black are the “social colors” of Special Sneaker Club but also those present in the coat of arms of the sestiere di Porta Ticinese since the Middle Ages. Both N9000 x SSCs were made in Italy from a mix of leather, suede and two-layer nylon with the custom logos embroidered tone-on-tone.

Each pair of Diadora N9000 x Special Sneaker Club will come with custom insoles, two additional sets of laces, custom socks and a certificate of authenticity and will be available exclusively via raffle at and @specialsneakerclub beginning Wednesday, June 2.
