How can a fragile material like fabric keep a shape?
This was the challenge of Dutch artist Fransje Gimbrere who, for her latest Standing Textiles project, carried out a very in-depth study on materials, shapes and nature.
Her primary aspiration was to be able to make a material that by its nature is not robust so that it can be used to furnish the interior in an unusual and innovative way.
What she has discovered, after several attempts is that the fabric combined with a bio-resin manages to maintain its softness and delicate appearance while becoming different, managing to maintain definite shapes without any kind of external support.
