The Sunnei Fall/Winter 2021 Ready-To-Wear Collection

Sunnei presented the Fall/Winter 2021 Ready-To-Wear collection within the Milan Fashion Week calendar – which will end today – with a digital show that mixed reality and fiction, playing with the concept of breaking the fourth wall and with the structure of Chinese boxes, where form and content are perfectly matched in an essential way.

At the beginning of the video that you can see below, you can see a model proceeding in favor of the camera until you get to “squash” on a glass that should be that of your smartphone. That same image then becomes the background of a new path on which the models move that comes to divide into four until it becomes the background of a new stage. The view changes again, the floor becomes a new backdrop and the images become distorted, accompanying us towards the end of the show in what is a Mannerist-style digital vertigo.

The lookbook of the collection, shot by photographer Alessio Bolzoni, picks up the idea of “squashing” and makes it central – this does not, however, take away from the dynamic look – the volumes seem dilated, the fabrics transformed and deformed. The 90’s aesthetic typical of the brand of Simone Rizzo and Loris Messina, is always present, the silhouettes appear soft and relaxed while the focus is on knitwear and reinterpretation of activewear. There is no shortage of experimentation and reworking of textures made with dense textured fabrics: laminated and quilted nylon used in jackets and pants and very wide corduroy in oversized dresses.

Aside from the products, we work on the concepts, hoping to make a mark right now. So that in five years, when we ask ourselves what was going on during COVID-19, we will remember it as that time we crushed a collection against the screen of an iPhone because we were all victims of this tool”, said Simone Rizzo.

Simone Rizzo and Loris Messina represent the maximum expression of an extremely dynamic creative movement that is forging the future of Made in Italy fashion where the watchword is sharing. Sharing of ideas, skills and visions, thanks to which the work done takes on a wider value than the ego-referred one.
