Like every year these days, Supreme is preparing to unveil its new Fall/Winter 2022 collection.
Last week, the New York-based skate brand founded by James Jebbia in 1994 first showed a teaser of the new collection, posting a leather jacket that appears to be very similar to the leather jackets made by fashion designer Jeff Hamilton – no word yet on whether this is an homage or an actual collaboration with the Paris-raised artist – and then posted the first campaign photo from this season.
The shot depicts André Lauren Benjamin aka André 3000, a cultural aesthetic icon of rap and music ever and member of OutKast, and was taken in what is classic Supreme style by American photographer and artist Deana Lawson.
Born in Rochester, New York, in 1979, Lawson is known for her intimate, family, spiritual and sexual work and for her tremendous ability to succeed in communicating what are the nuances of the African American experience, managing to explore its intimacy, affinities and relationships.
As usual, fans of the brand immediately launched into speculation about whether this campaign photo would later become the subject of a photo tee.
