In Mallorca, not far from the sea and surrounded by nature, Studio mar plus ask has designed The Olive Houses. Here, the land of the mountain is divided into huge terraces that are home to thousands of olive trees, typical of these lands, and every now and then between the trees, you can see small, humble stone houses, used for years by farmers to store materials and tools. For The Olive Houses, architects Mar Vicens and Ask Anker Aistrup took inspiration from these buildings and created two separate houses that pay homage to the culture and traditions of this region. 

The two houses, called The Pink House and The Purple House, are named after the color of the stucco used inside. The two shades have been chosen meticulously, in fact, these particular shades of pink and purple are the complementary colors of the two greens that are found on both sides of the olive leaves. 

The Purple House, finished first, stands on the ruins of a disused hut and inside it was created the spaces for the bathroom and kitchen. A few steps from this was built The Pink House, designed entirely around a huge rock that is the centerpiece of the house and inside houses the bedroom with a fireplace.

The Studio mar plus ask, always attentive to the impact of architecture on the environment, has equipped the two houses with solar panels and a water collection system that feeds the shower. In addition, for the construction of The Pink House, no olive trees were uprooted, leaving the landscape and the land to dictate the rules of design.
