Kiel Danger Mutschelknaus is a motion and generative artist originally from the Washington DC and Baltimore area, with a vision all his own. His work is born from custom-coded tools that operate on that fascinating boundary between construction and chaos, generating typography, images, and animations that feel alive.

Kiel Danger Mutschelknaus has this approach to practice that revolves around creating custom generative tools designed to bring unique design projects to life. Among these, the most interesting is undoubtedly the Space Type Generator, an open-source tool that allows anyone to create kinetic typography experiments — something Mutschelknaus spoke about to It’s Nice That back in 2019. His 16 variations — and more have been released since — have been used all over the world, from music videos to magazine covers, and even large-scale murals. A project that has attracted the attention of publications such as The Verge, étapes, Facebook Curated, Novum Magazine, Eye Magazine, Type01, and PAGE, as well as It’s Nice That.

In addition to his personal projects, Kiel collaborates with brands and agencies in developing custom tools for creating personalized graphics and animations. It’s an approach that not only brings together programming and design but also redefines the very concept of the creative process, transforming it into an open, collaborative, and ever-evolving ecosystem.
