There are roles in society that cannot be changed: adults will always have to take care of the children, parents will have to look after their children, take them to school, to sports and distract them when they cry. In the animated short film “Flipped”, Hend Esmat and Lamiaa Diab imagined, drew and animated an absurd world in which children take care of adults.
Everything is turned upside down and reality becomes surreal and funny: children just a few years old push enormous pushchairs with adults inside who only make noises, accompany them to the swimming pool and help them stay afloat.
For a handful of minutes and with an idea that is as simple as it is ingenious, “Flipped” makes us smile and imagine a world totally different from our own.
