A stop-motion short film to celebrate Pancake Day

Today is Pancake Day, a good excuse to eat tons of pancakes, and to mark the occasion we present the insane self-produced project of Wriggles & Robins, a filmmaking duo who made a stop-motion short film by cooking 600 different pancakes as needed.

Tom Wrigglesworth and Matt Robinson came up with the idea for this film last year and produced it in a more refined version during the lockdown period.
The process was obviously long and arduous, requiring numerous cups of batter, a lot of patience and just as much precision.
In the video the pancakes are transformed very naturally, becoming characters fighting and surfing in harmony, masterful explosions and rockets on their way to space.
All the scenes were shot over two days on a buttered pan in Tom’s kitchen and photographed one by one throughout the creation and cooking process.

Watch the final result here and share the short film with everyone using the hashtag #PancakeDay.
