Christmas is the time when we get together with the people we love: friends, relatives and family. We spend our afternoons at home watching films, playing board games or snacking on Panettone and Pandoro.
This year we may do so with a little more fear and even a hug may seem like a risk.
With this in mind, animator and director Anna Mantzaris has created “The New Normal”, an animated short film that reflects on the impact the pandemic has had and continues to have on our lives.
With her style, which we have already seen in shorts such as “Career-Limiting Move“, “Enough” or in last year’s John Lewis & Partners Christmas commercial, Anna Mantzaris shows us a situation like any other: a young man comes home for the holidays and before letting go of a healthy hug with his parents tries any kind of greeting that can be done while maintaining a certain distance.
The short film was made for the charity organisation “The New Normal” which – in the UK – provides psychological support to people by creating support groups made up of individuals who are experiencing the same situation.
