The light, the atmosphere that is created in a room when the sun’s rays come in through the window, the shadows of the objects that gently rest on the walls and bodies. As soon as I discovered Ugur Basaran‘s photographs I fell in love with them, they captured me. 

Ugur Basaran is a photographer living in Istanbul who for many years now has made light and the bodies of young women the protagonists of his shots. Made mostly in analog, with a 35mm camera, Ugur’s images welcome us in the intimacy of apartments and bedrooms. 

The girls in the photos, very often friends of Ugur himself, are delicate and sensual, as if no one was looking at them and on their naked bodies, on their skin the shadows of plants and flowers create a unique game of chiaroscuro that hypnotizes. This quality of being able to capture the light in the best possible way, makes the shapes stand out, raising the female body cover to a work of art.
