Turkish artist Uğur Gallenkuş creates broken hybrid images to highlight the serious differences between war-torn countries and privileged, peaceful societies. Using the imagery typical of Western culture and capitalist societies, Uğur effectively communicates his message: you think of an ice cream cone, I think of an explosion, you think of Gaga who wins an Oscar, I think of a child who is lucky enough to attend school and so on.

In each scene, well-being is accompanied by carefully matched images that capture the drama of conflict and poverty. This should make us reflect on what really occupies our attention most of the time, what does it matter to the Westerners?

The artist explains the reasons that lead him to realize his work in this way:

“If we want to live in peace and, we must have a healthy knowledge and empathy. Wrong and partial information and hatred make these problems even more serious”.

Uğur has taken several years to realize this personal project and has managed to get noticed on social media, in fact, boasts almost half a million followers on Instagram.
