The Hawaiian artist Christy Lee Rogers in her project called Muses has made beautiful photographs that look like Baroque inspiration oil paintings. The play of light and contrasts are obtained with a specific procedure, which consists of immersing towards sunset subjects underwater, in order to exploit last striking rays of light that penetrate the backdrop.
As Christy explains, this work is an opportunity to overcome a difficult moment:
“These images represent a soft and special place that I imagine exists, where you can be free to let go and experience the beauty surrounding you”.
So, backdrop becomes a sort of den in which to take refuge to create new stories to tell, made of drapery, dynamism and a lot of ethereal beauty, sometimes almost evanescent. Softness of shapes and color tones recreate the oil painting effect.
