Reisha Perlmutter is an American painter who studies from her atelier in New York City how we relate our body to the environment around us.
In the Water series, she adopts her usual pictorial approach of hyper realism to depict nude figures that float, swim and immerse themselves in clear swimming pools.
What is interest for her is the primordial relationship that binds body and nature once all cultural impositions have been annihilated.
Perlmutter thinks that eliminating all that is superfluous is the only way to find our own awareness that can make us accept every aspect of our physicality: scars, disease, health and beauty.
