Urban landscapes in Nick Rufo’s photographs

Nevermore than in these times of restrictions and canceled trips do we give thanks that photography exists. Through the shots of artists from all over the world, we still manage to travel with our imagination, to discover new places and stories.
One of these is definitely Nick Rufo, a young American photographer who grew up in the San Fernando Valley, northwest of downtown Los Angeles, and who captures glimpses of his city through his digital and analog shots.

The love between Nick Rufo and photography came as a result of various experiments with videos and short films: the protagonists of his first works were his friends and the places they used to visit. Only later, around 2014, Nick began to devote himself exclusively to photography, studying as a self-taught and without setting limits, both in terms of subjects and techniques.

However, if we were to narrow the field we could say that the recurring protagonists of his shots are the city, its streets and its urban landscapes. But forget about the touristy Los Angeles, the one you’re used to seeing in the movies, with his photographs Nick Rufo takes us by the hand and takes us to less touristy neighborhoods, those known only by a local person.

In addition to being inspired by his city, the photographer said he also finds inspiration by watching movies and TV series, spurring him to photograph night scenes or old cars. Especially the shots with the latter have a vintage, nostalgic feel as if they were made in a bygone era.

Below you can find a selection of photographs, but follow Nick Rufo on Instagram not to miss all his upcoming works and visit his website to discover his projects!
