VANSZA: SZA steps into the world of Vans and transforms it

This is not a collaboration designed simply to add an artist’s name to a sneaker. VANSZA comes from a broader creative relationship between SZA and Vans, which began in 2025 when the singer was named the brand’s Artistic Director. A role that goes beyond simple image, SZA in fact collaborates on the development of campaigns and collections, bringing to the Californian brand her own way of looking at music, fashion, and personal expression.

Vans

Now that collaboration takes concrete shape with the first collection under the VANSZA name, presented through images that seem to build a small, natural, almost fairy-tale universe. Trees, textured surfaces, warm colors, and an immersive atmosphere accompany the Vans silhouettes, suggesting an idea of movement that starts from the outside but is driven above all by curiosity. The collection’s first release is scheduled for October 22, 2026, with further offerings expected afterward. The collection’s concept follows a very precise direction: go outside, explore, connect with what is alive, and turn the experience into something personal. It is a philosophy that also echoes the message Vans chose for the launch, tied to curiosity, creativity, and the freedom to explore.

At the center are some of the brand’s most recognizable models, reinterpreted through SZA’s language. Among these is the Knu Skool, a model inspired by the Old Skool and characterized by more voluminous proportions, oversized laces, and a padded tongue. The name VANSZA already says a lot: it is the fusion between the brand and the artist’s identity, but also the attempt to build a shared space rather than simply layering two aesthetics on top of one another. SZA, for her part, had described her relationship with Vans precisely through the concept of freedom, explaining that she had worn models like the Knu Skool for years and that she identifies with the brand’s values of creativity, community, and self-determination.

More than a simple capsule, VANSZA thus seems like the first chapter of a collaboration meant to develop over time, where sneakers, fashion, and SZA’s personal imagery become parts of the same project. A collaboration that tries to shift Vans away from nostalgia and toward something more contemporary.
