Leyton High Road, a street in east London, has been filled with colors and geometric shapes thanks to one of the largest public art projects in the city.

The Walala Parade was created by internationally renowned artist Camille Walala, in collaboration with local company Deeney’s, animation studio Mighty Elk, art group Wood Street Walls, and with the support of London Mayor Sadiq Khan and a crowdfunding campaign launched on Spacehive that raised almost £40,000.

Made in shades of red, blue, yellow, black, and purple, with recycled paints to emphasize the sustainable nature of the entire project, the mural was created with the aim of making a grey area of the British city more liveable by giving new energy to the urban landscape.

For the design of the large mural, completed a few days after several months of work, the London-based artist also wanted to involve the entire community of Leyton who had the opportunity to contribute to the final design by choosing, on a website created ad hoc, the shapes and colors protagonists of the huge and colorful artwork.
