Forget the 2009 film, because Watchmen, the next HBO product to arrive in the fall, is true that it is based on the famous comic book by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbson, but the story differs from the original.
The television version signed by Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftlovers, Star Trek) will always be set in the world invented by Moore and Gibbson, but not in the period of the Cold War but in our days, when superheroes have survived but treated as outlaws. In the trailer, we see, in fact, Rorschach at the head of what may seem like a modern secret organization.
The story will probably see the clash between the superheroes-outlaws disciples of Rorschach clashing against the police wearing yellow masks. Will this version be able to live up to the previous ones?
The cast has exceptional names: Jeremy Irons will play Ozymandias and will be joined by Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, and Louis Gossett Jr.
Watchmen has not yet had an official release date, while I suggest you watch the trailer.
